We suggest start our trip with the most visited tourist attraction of the capital. St. Vladimir Cathedral is the main temple of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, one of the most beautiful monuments of neo-Byzantine architecture, not only in the capital, but through out Ukraine. Viktor Vasnetsov, Mikhail Vrubel, Mikhail Nesterov and other eminent artists took part in the development and discussion of the cathedral's projects. 96 people took part in the St. Vladimir Cathedral painting it’s a record number of painters. The cathedral is also famous for one of the best church choirs in Ukraine.

Andreevsky Descent is the oldest street in Kiev. The street was named in honor of St. Andrew's Church, which was established at the beginning of the descent in the middle ofthe VIII century. There is a legend: At the location of the Dnieper river there was a great sea. When Andrew the Apostle came and planted a cross on a hill the sea obeyed by retracting the water leaving what is now the Dnieper river and dry land for the great city of Kiev. On the very spot he placed the cross, the domes of St. Andrew's Church were erected. At that time the only church in Kiev, in which there was no bell tower. According to the legend, if the bell rings the water will awaken and flood not only Kiev, but the whole left bank of the city.
Now Andreevsky Descent is a favorite place for amazingly talented people from all over the world. Here you can find art exhibitions, see the works of famous jewelers, find antique souvenirs and enjoy the music of talented performers. We invite you to immerse yourself in this wonderful atmosphere.
St. Sophia Cathedral is the pearl of the capital. "Sofia" was created by Prince Vladimir in 1011, more 1000 years ago! St. Sophia Cathedral is a fount of frescoes and mosaics of the 11th century. Frescoes cover 3 thousand square meters, and mosaics - 260 square meters of Cathedral. There are real treasures insite of the temple, carefully restored for descendants in their pristine form.
The unique mosaic of Our Lady of Oranta includes a stained glass mosaic with glass in 177 different shades. It is also interesting because it is on of the few Virgin Mary images without a baby, arms extended in prayer. It is said that as long as Our Lady of Oranta has her hands extended over Kiev the city will be indestructible.
The Golden Gate is an architectural monument of the defensive architecture of Kiev Rus, since the reign of Yaroslav the Wise. The Golden Gate performed not only a defensive function, but also was the central entrance to Kiev. This status was preserved until the 18th century. By the way, the city has never been captured. Inside of the monument there is a museum with exhibits dedicated to the history of the Golden Gate. The exhibitions are located over three floors , on the ground floor  there are exhibits that tell about the creation and reconstruction of the gate, on the two upper floors it is planned to open an exhibition of weapons, clothing and household items from the times Kiev Rus. There are also exits to the viewing platforms where you can take wonderful photos and look at the city from a different angle.

One of the masterpieces of the Ukrainian Baroque is the cathedral, the refectory and the complex of buildings of the Vydubitsky SaintMichael Monastery. Nowadays there are five churches in the area of the monastery. This is a surprisingly picturesque place where believers will be able to find unique places for inspiration and perfect location to pray. Not long ago, caves were discovered, where Vydubitsky Saint Michael Monastery was created. This place contains many mysteries of history. The architecture of the temple is unique itself. It is stored, probably, the only canvas with the image of the Apocalypse in the world. It contains the entire history of mankind, beginning with Adam and Eve. The monastery and his square are a protected territory.

This is not just a house, it's a House with chimeras! The building is created in the Art Nouveau style and located in the center of Kiev near Khreshchatyk Street. It has an interesting history. It was built by the most famous architect of Kiev Vladislav Gorodetsky. His mystical name was given to the house through sculptural ornaments, which are around and inside the house. The subjects of the building are terrestrial and underwater fauna, attributes of hunting, fairy-tale creatures. Once Mikhail Bulgakov said that without the House with the chimeras there would be no Woland with Azazello. It was the famous décor of the mansion that inspired the writer to create the characters of "Master and Margarita" book. You do not forget to find a crocodile on the facade of the building, then, according to the legend, you will be happy all the life.

The Kiev Pechersk Lavra is the most famous monastery in Eastern Europe and the greatest shrine of Christianity. This shrine stands in the third place for the Orthodox world after Jerusalem and the holy Mount Athos. The foundation of the monastery belongs to saints Anthony and Theodosius in 1051. The territory of the complex is very large - 28 hectares of total area and it is divided into two parts - two hills separated by a ravine. Today there is a reserve on the upper territory; the monks live on the ground. The Near and Far caves and churches, crypts and other relics are on the territory of the Lower Lavra. There are a number of museum on the territory of the UpperLavra. You will have the opportunity to examine the masterpieces of Ukrainian architecture, see the luxurious inscriptions and iconostases of churches, touch the laurel shrines.
